Liam Flanagan (Fiddle, Banjo & Mandolin)

Liam Flanagan (Fiddle, Banjo & Mandolin)Liam is a relatively recent member of the Booley House having joined in 2003. However his musical career spans from touring Israel with well-known trad band "Danú", to touring with accordion player Derek Hickie of "De Danann".

Liam is perhaps best-known for his part in internationally reknowned Irish band "North Cregg" since he joined them in 2004. With past appearances at prestigious music events such as Glastonbury Festival England, Milwaukee Irish Fest USA, Tønder Festival Denmark, Cambridge Festival England, Celtic Connections Glasgow and hundreds more besides, North Cregg are one of the most popular live acts in the world of folk music today. The recent release of their 4th album has attracted them further critical acclaim.

He began learning his instruments at the age of 7 years, and has been teaching fiddle, banjo and mandolin in his native Cork for over 12 years. His own competition accomplishments include winning 4 Munster under-18 fiddle titles in the Fleadh Cheoileanna, and has also placed third at All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil level playing the banjo. This positions him well to pass on his skills to others, and we are delighted to have him as our resident teacher of fiddle classes in Ballyduff since 2005. His influences include Derek Hickey, John Carty, and Bobby Casey.
